Ritual performance, 2015
Hosted by The Satanic Temple and organized/curated by Jex Blackmore and The Satanic Temple of Detroit, the temple's long-awaited Baphomet monument was unveiled during the largest public Satanic ceremony in history. Weighing one ton and standing nearly 9-feet tall, the bronze goat-headed idol drew opposition and protests from local Christians as well as a coalition of pastors who demanded the event be shut down. The event featured performances by Detroit noise legends, Wolf Eyes -- described on their website as “more than a band, but a collective mutant ensemble, an art abstraction unit,” -- Boston-based dark punk act, Sadist and DJ William Morrison (of avant industrial acts Skinny Puppy and OhGr).
