Abortion remains a taboo topic often reserved for political debates and protests on the streets. Women have remained effectively silent about their experience despite the fact that 21% of all pregnancies end in abortion. Despite the taboo, many groups have encouraged women to engage in public discussion about their abortions to illuminate and demystify the experience. Many of these accounts are written years after the experience itself, a reflection of whether they regret the choice. Unmother was a project of self-reflection and a catalogue of my own pregnancy experience for seventeen days surrounding the abortion procedure.
